| In 1999, the Walton College invested almost $2 million to
upgrade its classroom technology. As a result, all classrooms are
now equipped with SMART Boards and electronic data presentation
stations wired to the Internet. Since this time the College has
continued its commitment to bring state-of-the-art technology to you
in order to provide a robust environment for learning that helps to
ensure real world success. In 2002, the Walton College first went
wireless, enabling you to access e-mail and the Internet from
anywhere in and around the Business Building and the Donald W.
Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development.
In 2004, protecting hardware and software resources of the
College became a focal point along with both providing a centralized
battery backup solution that increased run-time in the event of
power failure and doubling the overall backup capacity, providing
greater stability and redundancy.
Last year the Tech Center focused much of its efforts on a
massive infrastructure migration - moving to a blade server solution
and implementing a 4 terabyte SAN. Broader support for the ISYS
department was also established through cooperation with new
off-site partners, and the opening of the new RFID lab.
Additionally, new equipment was utilized by the Media Support Center
to provide many guest-speakers and programs online.
The goal of these initiatives is to stay on top of the real world
technology that businesses use everyday - so you are prepared to
enter the workforce. At the Walton College you are supported by the
best technology resources. |
