Job Shadow Program
The Walton College of Business Career Center Job Shadowing Program is designed to give business majors a connection to their local business community and a unique resource for discussing issues related to their career interests. Participating students interact with business and industry professionals and are exposed to a variety of learning experiences provided by partner companies and organizations. This program also provides an excellent opportunity for regional alumni to re-connect with the Walton College of Business and interact with current students.
Now Accepting Professionals Interested in Providing Guidance to Students
The Walton College Career Center is now accepting interested professionals for the fall 09 semester. If you are interested in sharing experiences with students, or learning about how your company can participate in the program, please fill out form requesting information regarding how to become involved in the Job Shadow Program information form.
Program Objective
To provide an opportunity for selected students to be exposed to a variety of learning experiences provided by partner companies and organizations through working professionals. The intention of this program is to give students, who will soon enter the workforce, a clear understanding of the world of work.
Participant/Professional Expectations and Obligations
At least one in-person meeting between Job Shadowing Student and Professional (scheduled based on mutual availability) at participating company's office/location for one of the following three job shadowing options:
Based on the Professional’s availability and participating company's willingness, Professionals can include Job Shadowing participants in a variety (or all) of your daily activities, including meetings; visits with customers and/or co-workers; networking with your co-workers; tour of your company - Any and all involvement that the Professional believes will help the Job Shadowing participant understand the Professional’s job responsibilities and company as a whole is encouraged. Many companies choose to host an informational/job shadow experience with multiple students attending and rotating through multiple departments with several shadowing opportunities during the event allowing for maximum exposure for both students and the company. For this option student/event coordination is done through the Career Center in partnership with a designated company representative.
